Honoring Women’s Equality Day: Empowering Women in Finance and Beyond

August 26, 2025

Why Women’s Equality Day Matters—And Why It Should Matter to You

Every year, on August 26, we celebrate Women’s Equality Day, and every year, it makes me pause and reflect—not just on how far we've come, but on how far we still need to go. As someone who’s spent time in the financial industry, I’ve seen some changes. But I’ve also seen where the work is still unfinished.

I’ve worked with incredible women, and I’ve seen how financial challenges can often feel heavy, complicated, and overwhelming. I’ve also witnessed the strength, resilience, and intelligence that women bring to the table—traits that benefit all of us in the long run.

Women and Finance: The Numbers Speak for Themselves

The truth is that women now control over 31% of the world’s wealth—and that number is growing. And even though we’ve made a lot of progress, women still make up just 23% of financial advisors in the U.S.1

I’ve seen this gap firsthand, and it was a part of my decision to enter this field. Women bring a natural skillset to the table that benefits the conversations around planning, values and long-term safety. In addition, diverse teams make better decisions. Companies with gender-diverse leadership outperform on several metrics.

This isn’t just about numbers. It’s about giving everyone the opportunity to thrive and succeed, not only in financial matters but in life as a whole.

What I’ve Learned Over the Years (And How You Can Help)

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over my years in finance, it’s that mentorship and support matter more than you think—whether you’re a woman entering the field or just someone looking for sound financial advice.

  • Representation matters. Women need to see other women succeed. If you’re a woman reading this, and you’re wondering if you can do it—yes, you can. When women see other women leading, making decisions, and pushing the envelope, it becomes that much easier to believe, “I can do this, too.” It’s why I always encourage my clients to seek mentors and take the lead when they feel ready.
  • Women face unique challenges in finance. Whether it’s a divorce, the loss of a spouse, or simply trying to balance career and family, financial decisions are often more complicated for women. I’ve made it a point to be there to educate, guide, and support my clients—whether they’re navigating a major transition or just looking to ensure their long-term financial well-being.
  • Inclusivity isn’t just about policies. Having a seat at the table is about making people feel heard, respected, and supported. Flexible work arrangements, equal opportunities for advancement, and fair compensation aren’t just nice-to-haves, they’re necessary for true progress. We should all be part of positive change, wherever we work and however we contribute.

Celebrating Women’s Equality Day—What It Means for You

Women’s Equality Day is about more than just celebrating progress—it’s about taking action to ensure that progress continues. If you’re reading this, I want you to know that your voice matters, your financial goals are important, and your success is worth the investment.

  • For women: If you feel like you don’t have the resources or support you need, I’m here. There’s power in understanding your money—and even more power in taking control of it. Don’t wait for the “perfect time” to start. Start today. Let's do this together.
  • For everyone: You can make a difference. Support the women around you—whether it’s through mentorship, equal opportunities, or simply listening. Everyone benefits when we all have a seat at the table.

Let’s Keep Moving Forward—Together

On this Women’s Equality Day, let’s remember that the future of finance isn’t about one group; it’s about all of us. A better future requires diversity, inclusiveness, and working toward a world where everyone has the tools they need to thrive.

Whether you’re a woman navigating your finances or someone who’s helping others do the same, we can all be part a brighter future. We will get there together.
